Toms River house fire closes Bay Avenue; no injuries
Posted by the Asbury Park Press on 05/15/07 TOMS RIVER — Police and firefighters responded to an early morning fire at 1130 Bay Avenue in the East Dover section about 5:30 a.m. after a family awoke to the sound of smoke detectors.
The East Dover and Island Heights Fire companies and were assisted in a general alarm by Pleasant Plains and Silverton companies responded. A portion of the house and three vehicles in the driveway were heavily damaged by fire, said Chief Michael G. Mastronardy.
There were no injuries and the fire is under investigation by the Toms River Bureau of Fire Prevention.
Bay Avenue was closed during the firefighting process and should be reopened by about 7:30 a.m. , Mastronardy said.
